Wednesday, August 18, 2010

6 - 7 p.m. Socializing
7 - 8 p.m. Discussion

Nonprofits struggle with mastering new social media channels. They're so easy to use and so easy to waste time with! Some of us obsess over the technical details instead of focusing on the big picture. The details include Facebook page tweaks, Connect buttons, best social media policies, and best methods for determining ROI. But the big picture is about the power of storytelling, peer to peer communication, distributing power from the center to the edge, and keeping our riskiest, most intimate details in the final draft.

Featured guests:

Deanna Zandt Deanna Zandt, author of Share This!: How You Will Change the World with Social Networking and long time online organizer, movement techie and nonprofit consultant, will share her insights about the big picture.

And... you! We'd like to have a nonprofit member of the 501 Tech Club community join us to share experiences of using social media successfully in their organization. Who has a great story to tell? Please contact 501 Tech NYC to suggest yourself as our second panelist.

Copies of Share This! will available for sale at a discount for NTEN members and we're  giving away NTEN prizes!

501 Tech NYC

501 Tech NYC is the NYC chapter of NTEN, the Nonprofit Technology Network.

The club offers the opportunity to meet and network with colleagues in the five boroughs. Pros and accidental techies come together to share advice, resources, local news and job openings. Share your knowledge and get the support you need to create a better NY.
